This new direction follows organizational reforms at the publicly-funded organization, including the departure of its previous CEO last month after both workforce dissatisfaction and official demands for major restructuring.

Increasing Digital Threats

The fresh initiative comes amid increasing worry about Britain's vulnerability to internet outages and online threats.

The institute's chair, a ex-Amazon UK executive, confirmed that nearly eighty separate studies at the center employing hundreds have been closed, transferred out or finished because they do not align with the new direction.

The institute has faced organizational challenges since last year as staff protested against restructuring, culminating in a group of employees submitting a formal grievance to the relevant regulatory body.

The organization's management stated that these employee allegations were independently investigated by a neutral third party that found them to have be unsubstantiated.
